Roman Signer, Hunter S. Thompson and William Eggleston
(Southern) gents with guns.
I've been coming across all sorts of websites lately which seems to deal in all aspects of "manliness" or masculinity. See The Art of Manliness, for example ... Straight-, or gay masculinity, are of course two different things but this is beyond the scope of this post but I just wanted to point to the obvious masculine attributes, muscles that "Muscle Mary's" are obsessed with. It seemed only appropriate to tip You of on these 3 well-dressed, artistic gentlemen, all with a un-apologetic fascination for guns, (another ûber-masculine attribute)
Swiss artist Roman Signer, with a recent showing at the Hamburger Kunsthalle.
... for more firearm related stuff I recommend the "Tonight" show's host, Conan O'Brien's excurtion to gonzo journalism's father, (of "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas" fame) Hunter S. Thompson's shooting range. In an unbelievable, unbeatable YouTube clip, the two are discharging, among other things, some sort of heavy assault rifle while consuming very large quantities of alcohol...
... also on the subject of well-dressed, hard drinking, artistic southern gents, check out photographer William Eggleston.
These gents are at the same time utterly conservative (and perhaps even reactionary) and for sure Mr. Thompson a raving madman with strokes of brilliance, but at the same time progressive in there refusal to let go of their individuality. ... and isn't that really what we need to do ? Seeing people as individuals rather than belonging to this or that group ?
